Salcedo

I'm currently a graduate student working on a coastal wetland in Puerto Rico. My main objective is to determine how saltwater intrusion affects the soil.

Atmospheric events, rising sea levels, freshwater inflows, and anthropogenic factors cause saltwater intrusion into coastal wetlands. Saltwater intrusion into coastal wetlands is alarming because it threatens the ecosystem which is the case for the north coast of Puerto Rico. The research consists of field sampling in designated areas where strategic points were selected randomly, sampling recollection will consist of water and sediment. This research would benefit future projects as it would serve as a basis for understanding the geochemical behaviors in the reserve and even help improve the environmental planning for conservation management
